STMicroelectronics Allegro Intel and AMD Products to Raise Prices

4/9/2026 8:14:01 PM

1. STMicroelectronics Price Increase Effective April 26

STMicroelectronics (ST) officially issued a price increase notification to customers on March 24, 2026, announcing that prices for multiple product lines will be raised effective April 26, 2026.
The company cited significantly growing semiconductor demand across industries and multiple cost pressures: material suppliers charging allocation fees or raising prices, rising energy and transportation costs, and additional expenses to secure capacity at fabs and OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) suppliers.
ST's price hike signals that the Q2 2026 semiconductor price surge has now spread from memory and passive components to the core MCU and power semiconductor segments.

2. Allegro MicroSystems Announces Price Hike

Magnetic sensor leader Allegro MicroSystems issued a price adjustment letter on March 22, 2026, announcing a company-wide price increase of at least 10% effective April 27, 2026.
Allegro stated that the industry has faced rising raw material, labor, energy, and logistics costs, coupled with constrained global manufacturing capacity. Having absorbed these costs internally for the past two years, the company said the increase is necessary to ensure supply chain stability, invest in capacity, and support long-term customer needs.
As a leading global supplier of magnetic sensors and power ICs for automotive powertrains, safety systems, data centers, clean energy, and industrial automation, this move is expected to directly impact downstream automotive electronics and industrial control applications.

3. Intel and AMD Processor Prices Set to Rise

According to industry reports, PC hardware inflation is extending to CPUs, with the market experiencing an average price increase of 10%–15%, affecting both server and consumer products.
Supply chain sources indicate that Intel and AMD have notified customers of price hikes across their processor portfolios starting in April 2026. Lead times are also expected to lengthen significantly from weeks to several months.
An anonymous gaming PC executive noted that Q2 2026 CPU supply will tighten further as manufacturers prioritize allocating capacity to high-margin data center products, reducing availability for consumer PCs regardless of willingness to pay higher prices.

4. Memory Price Forecasts Sharply Revised Upward

Nomura has significantly raised its memory chip price forecasts, now expecting DRAM and NAND Flash prices to rise 51% and 50% respectively in Q2 2026, up from previous estimates of 6% and 20%. The firm emphasized that this rally reflects not just short-term imbalance but a fundamental structural shift in the industry.

5. Sharp Decline in Laptop Sales

According to Luotuo Technology data, China's laptop online retail market (excluding content platforms like Douyin) saw both volume and revenue plummet in the first two months of 2026. Sales fell 40.5% year-on-year to 947,000 units, with revenue dropping over 40% to 5.99 billion yuan.
Reasons include memory and SSD price surges due to AI server demand squeezing PC component capacity, leading to higher retail prices that deterred non-essential buyers. Furthermore, government subsidy programs in 2025 pulled forward demand,透支ing part of the H1 2026 market.

6. TSMC 2nm Capacity Severely Constrained

Strong AI and HPC demand has created a severe shortage of TSMC's 2nm (including A16) capacity. Even largest customer NVIDIA is reportedly redesigning its next-gen "Feynman" platform due to insufficient allocation, with Meta also competing for capacity. The queue for 2nm is now extending beyond 2028, and TSMC's advanced node pricing is expected to rise for the fourth consecutive year.
